Today, we are singing the praises of Sarah Ingle, founder of Nest Analytics. Full disclosure, we’ve known Sarah on a personal level for years. However, it wasn’t until we met and began strategizing with her for her personal branding shoot that we got to know professional Sarah. And, let us tell you, we couldn’t have been more impressed! This is a whole other side of Sarah that we had never gotten to see before and we absolutely loved seeing her shine!
Sarah started Nest Analytics a little over a year ago after having worked in the digital analytics and marketing space for over 10 years. When we asked her about her inspiration for starting her own company, she told us “I kept seeing the same need in the market – companies didn’t have anyone to setup their data correctly. Throughout my career on the agency and client side, I’ve worked with over 30 companies (small local companies all the way to Fortune 100). Not one of them has been without a data infrastructure issue. I started Nest Analytics to focus solely on data infrastructure…. And, it has been an absolute blast!”
Our goal for this shoot was to create images that reflected Sarah’s passion for and heart behind her work, as well as to illustrate that data analytics isn’t scary. We aimed to help demonstrate how Nest Analytics can solve hard problems for the businesses it serves while also capturing Sarah’s personality, how she loves to instill confidence in her clients through the service she provides, and her desire to be her client’s biggest cheerleader.
We were able to create the images for Sarah at The Frame and on location at her home. This was absolutely one of the most fun photo shoots we’ve done to date. At her request, we got that good 90’s country music playing in the background, Sarah showed us some of her best dance moves, and turned on the charm full blast for the camera.
But, enough about what WE think! Let’s let you hear directly from Sarah. We asked her a series of questions designed to help our audience get to know her better, specifically as a small business owner. Here’s what she had to say:
What does your company do? What makes your service or product unique and notable? We set up digital marketing analytics and then help visualize that data. I typically work in Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, CRM systems (Salesforce and Microsoft Dynamics), Google BigQuery, Facebook, and Google Ads. I like Google Data Studio for visualizing data. I think Nest Analytics is unique because we only focus on data. In digital marketing, data is typically part of an advertising agency’s service offering – but not all companies can afford an advertising agency. Or, a company may need help in their data that isn’t connected to advertising.
What inspired you to create your business? What draws you to the clients you serve? What would you like to share about the impact you hope to have? I think data is really hard! But, it is solvable. I have found that most people get stuck, throw up their hands, and walk away. I love helping clients solve hard issues and presenting them with an end result that is easy-to-understand and empowering.
Are there any resources or assets (software, apps, courses, etc) that have really helped you uplevel your business? My first boss taught me how to use R and some basic SQL. I think it was really helpful having this coding knowledge early on. It helped me understand how tracking applications were working behind the scenes.
What would you say is the main thing that has helped you grow your business? This could be a personality trait, a mindset, an event, etc. I think I’m good at breaking a complex problem down into smaller, achievable tasks. Clients will often come to me with a pretty big data problem, and I’m able to help break it down into 10 steps that get us to an end result. I complete this process with my clients, which is really rewarding for me. Because we both feel like we are tackling the problem together.
If you started your business over today, what would you focus on first to help you grow? Oh gosh – I feel like it is brand new. Right now, I am trying to figure out my target client – who is the happiest with my services and who do I enjoy working with most.
What is the best business advice you have ever been given? Start small – you don’t have to have everything perfect. Just put something out into the marketplace and revise as you go.
What is your favorite mantra? Haha – I don’t know if it is a mantra – but I say to myself (almost daily), “You can do this, Sarah.” I got overwhelmed with a project today, and I thought to myself, “Sarah, you can figure this out – just start small – and work your way through it slowly.”
What was your absolute biggest challenge prior to doing a personal branding photo shoot? I have had a hard time knowing how to talk about my business and what my voice should be.
How did that challenge make you feel? Kind of stuck – because I didn’t want to put out messaging that would then have a different tone / lens later.
What changed after getting and using your images and/or videos? Working with Harmonie House Images has really helped solidify the Nest Analytics brand! I get leads in all the time from my posts They are definitely a lead generator. Even if they don’t get a ton of likes, I notice that after I’m posting – people reach out (typically on LI messages) for more information.
Thanks, Sarah! We could not be more proud of you or this imagery we created together. We just love watching you do your thing and seeing Nest Analytics grow!
